Memorial Day

Thanks to our Veterans and Soldiers, we are free.
What are you cooking to commemorate those brave souls who have and do risk their lives for our freedom? When they go out to defend their country, they think of what they have to look forward to when they get home: a home cooked meal. So what are you fixing today?
Maybe it's ribs or brisket on the smoker, or a few chickens or some fish on the grill. How about a meatloaf or hamburgers? Memorial Day seems to be synonymous with grilling and cooking outdoors. By May, it's warm everywhere and time for those who've been cooking inside to wander out and make fire in their yards.
I'm not the grill girl. I like a nice sausage on the grill once in a blue moon, but for me, it's making a nice dinner, or breakfast. This morning I made sausage gravy and biscuits. Will you make a fancy lunch? Dinner? Did you make breakfast to fill an army of your own? Holidays are meant for togetherness, and for feasting.
Whatever you have or do, just keep in mind that this is a day of remembrance. When you eat what you eat, remember those brave souls who did not get home for that meal. Those over the years who lay in foreign lands, or in a resting place with more like them. Remember those and eat...savor.
God bless!
