Fall Begins Here

Greetings!

Summer has been hot for only a short time, which is a blessing. I anticipate it getting hotter in September, which often happens, but right now, as we approach our fall semester of school, it's cool and a little rainy, and feels like fall should.

I'm working on a big secret knitting project, which is cracking along quite nicely. I am taking a wee break to knit some wee hats for the anticipated appearance of a friend's twin grandsons. I have a little time, but I'm trying to get them finished so they can be ready when they do get here. I haven't had much success finishing my daughter's shawl, but she hasn't asked for it for a while, so I might have to think up another really nice project for her...I don't know why I think this is such a hassle.  :-(

I taught myself how to knit toe-up socks (sort of), and I have one test sock completed.

It's cute, isn't it?
I'll work on a pair once I get some other projects out of the way. I need to get cracking on some more of my holiday knitting, and I have some beautiful purple yarn to go with my purple shawl I have to wear at my desk. This will become fingerless gloves to be worn on the cold winter days at my desk. But these will happen after I get further on the big project.

I also have discovered a great site - http://newstitchaday.com/welcome - that has THE BEST video tutorials for knitting and crocheting! Thanks to Johnny Vasquez and his awesome team! They're starting up some online, real-time classes soon, and I've already signed up for one! I'm so excited!!

Recently, I guess I decided I didn't have enough hobbies or projects to do, so I joined Stampin' Up! I don't know how involved I'll end up being, but I like the idea of designing cards and it gives me an outlet to use my art experience besides painting, which doesn't always come as an inspiration. I'll be learning more about the whole company after the semester gets underway. After that, I might be able to answer questions. I thank my friend, Laura for introducing me to this...it really is a lot of fun!

Well, that's about me for now. Summer's been a bit of a blur...I am happy it's nearly done, but it seems to have gone awfully fast. For now I'll brace myself for the onslaught of new college students. The candy dish is full, the maps are stocked, the handbooks are delivered, and tonight we greet the Associate Faculty. I guess the time has come....fall begins here!

Blessings until next time!
