Another Texas Summer

It's already reached 100+ in North Texas several days in June this year. While this is slightly unusual, it is summer, and it is the southern part of the United States. What is amazing is it's been nearly as hot in parts of Canada and the northern part of the U.S. in June. So much for the myth of "Global Warming" and climate change.

So what do we do when it reaches the upper temperatures here? Some prefer to swim or go to a lake and spend time on the water in boats, some travel to other areas where it's not so hot; still others sleep during the day and go out in the evenings or early mornings. Most of us work in air conditioned office buildings or if we do work outside, we acclimate to the temperatures by degree and stay hydrated. I fall in the a/c office building group. And what do I do when I'm not working? Why, I knit, of course!

I knit Christmas projects and I knit samples of new stitches, and I read up on knitting. Of course, I couple this with YouTube and television shows and movies. I found myself without music the other day when I worked on my knitting at lunch, but I had time to draw out a plan for the new project I was going to start. I still opted for the original plan, but at least I had the options to look at.

I often wonder if I'm addicted to knitting - Stephanie Pearl-McPhee has written a wonderful essay on this subject. I have decided that if I were truly addicted, I'd knit (or at least think about knitting) when I'm really sick - as with the flu I had a couple weeks ago. I have to say, I didn't pick up or even wonder about my knitting for an entire week! I think I'm pretty safe...mostly!

I will not describe my knitting projects here, as recipients of some of these projects are likely to read this blog and I would hate to spill the beans before December 25. Suffice it to say, I am working on some pretty nifty handmade-with-love knitted items I hope will be a blessing to those receiving them.

I will sign off for now. I am intent on developing a website (NOT the same I have had up before), so I will go and give it a try. I hope you are all blessed until I write again...hopefully soon!
