Quick and Easy

I've been cooking for a long time, but not all my friends have. I have to say I take for granted that what's a simple meal for me is not so simple for others. I just say, Oh, throw the rice in and then after you saute it, add the liquid. Now, to many, that means, to whatever amount of rice you put in whatever amount of oil and possible veggies, after you saute until it's golden you add twice the amount of water. Bring up to a boil and turn down the heat and cover it, after a pretty good stir. Simple!

Except I say things like that and some of my friends say, Ok, what does all that mean? I got rice and liquid and that's about it!

So assuming there's anyone out there, how much skill does it take to decifer a recipe from friends? Are you on the Uh-huh level or the Huh?? level? Do you have friends who just rattle off ideas for meals assuming you know exactly what they're talking about, only to go home and grab the first frozen dinner you reach?

Let's get someone comments here!

And to my friends who I do this to, I will try to be more conscientious when rattling off a recipe! :-)
